What the 2006 Midterm Elections mean to me.
What are we voting on?
What is at risk in this country?
I am sick and tired of hearing about Iraq. These murderous bastards signed up for war, well now it’s their turn to “die by the gun”. I’m sick of hearing about it.
Everyone says that we need to get out of Iraq because “it’s a civil war”. I don’t care if it’s a civil war. The only reason to leave if it is a civil war is because AS AN OPERATION WE HAVE LOST.
I am not concerned about the operation. I couldn’t give a fuck. We have already lost, we lost when we first went in. this administration marched this country into war, and didn’t give the proper avenues of peace talks a chance.
I am, however, concerned about the Iraqi civilians. The men, women and children who were tortured under Sadam are currently being tortured under Rumsfeld and the U.S. military.
About 7% of the fighters in Iraq are from foreign nations. THAT MEANS THAT 93% ARE FROM IRAQ. They are fighting to free their country from occupiers (us). We invaded Iraq. We tortured Iraqis and other prisoners.
· They are fighting us the way the Native Americans fought against their own invasion.
· They are fighting the way we fought the British during the American Revolutionary War
· They are fighting each other the way we fought each other during the American Civil War.
And what happened to Afghanistan? Did anyone notice that the Taliban is back in control? The U.S. military failed their too. I don’t blame the troops though; I blame those in the upper echelon of the military planning these things.
This Election is not about Iraq. This election is about a dozen other issues.
First off, the country needs an entire make over with concerns of Election Reform.
The American people need to feel as if the elections count. We need the votes counted, properly. We know what happened in 2000 & 2002. 2004 was a whole other monster. Check out Robert Kennedy’s paper in Rolling Stone.
Second, the country needs Campaign Finance Reform.
We need publicly funded campaigns, every level from Local/City govt., State govt. and Federal govt. The more choices the American people have the better the choice will be. We need a broad cast here. What we need is Campaign Finance Reform.
Third, we NEED an investigation into the Iraq war.
The questions need to be:
1. Why did we go to iraq?
And I don’t want to hear OIL as the answer. The truth is much more developed, nuanced and complicated.
2. When was the decision made to invade?
We can all look at the Downing Street Memos for the answer here.
3. How much money has the people of the U.S. lost since the invasion due to the over & corrupt corporatism of Halliburton and the u.s. government.
Fourth, we NEED the re-birth of the Fourth Estate. A.K.A. the news people.
It is impossible to assume that the corporate interests of ABC, NBC, CBS CNN MSNBC and worst of all FOX NEWS share the same interests as those of the American people.
Fifth, we need to roll back this presidents power grab, most notably
The detainee detention act of 2006
Warrentless Spying? Did we forget this issue exists?
Sixth, we need healthcare reform.
Call it single payer or socialized healthcare, I don’t give a damn. What the American people need is SECURITY. We don’t have it in pensions, look at the goddamn airline companies. Look at Ford, and GM. People pay into pensions their entire lives and in one fail swoop it is removed from beneath them. Their lives, their future all thrown out the window because the corporation needs greater profits.
Well fuck it, and fuck them as well. I don’t give a damn about corporate profits. Why does this country care more about corporate welfare projects than social welfare projects. We constantly give money to corporations in form of tax breaks and yet we bitch an moan about property taxes…. WHICH GO TO EDUCATING YOUR FUCKING CHILDREN….. your children. Bitch about the state of education…. “Lower my taxes” “why does my child’s education suck” “lower my taxes” did you ever make the connection?
Property taxes go to paying for schools.
Gas taxes go to fixing the roads
The income tax goes to paying off interest to the Federal Reserve for printing our own money.
Seventh, we need to pay attention to climate change.
The ice caps are melting, and polar bears are drowning. Look it up!
Sea waters are rising and so are the temperatures. As the temperatures rise the amount of ice under water rises as well. The less ice there is at the poles the faster that area heats up, thus sinking more ice into the seas and melting more ice. If the all of the ice at the poles melt all seashore cities are under water. Since most people in the world live in cities, and most cities are around the shores we can expect that most of the people in the entire world will either be displaced or die due to rising water levels.
And what about this bit of news?
“British Treasury chief Gordon Brown, who commissioned the report and who could very well become Britain’s next prime minister when Tony Blair steps down next year, said former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, who has dedicated himself to warning about global warming, would advise the British government on climate change.”

War with Iran? How about war with N. Korea?
What about the ability for one to choose their own spouse?
I believe in social change and equal opportunity for gay, bi-sexual and transgender marriages. Marriage doesn’t threaten the ‘sanctity of marriage’, divorce threatens it.
Finally, and most importantly, we NEED and deserve the truth regarding 911.
THE TWIN TOWERS.
The fact is that two plane did not bring down the fucking towers. I’m sick of hearing the lies, im sick of hearing about how jet fuel (kerosene) burns hot enough to liquefy steel. Im wondering how liquid steel was found in pools under buildings 1, 2 & 7. If jet fuel did bring down the buildings then why was their pools of liquid steel under building 7 which was not hit by a plane and not brought down by the fires.
THE PENTAGON.
We still have not seen pictures of a plane hitting the pentagon. Why not? There were over a dozen cameras around that corner of the pentagon and yet they only released one set of still images from a camera on the site. The still images did not show a plane. Not one plane. Not one wing, or body or tail.
